Hard Rock Hotel and Sol Melia announce Europe`s first Hard Rock Hotel in Madrid

CommentsIn July of 2004, my sister-in-law and I traveled to Madrid, Spain. We stayed at the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel, a four-star luxury hotel which belongs to the SOL MELIA group. This hotel is located in Plaza de Santa Ana, 14, Madrid, Spain.
During our stay, we were victims of a robbery, all our cash was stolen from the safe-deposit box in our guest room.

This type of aggression and crime is unjustified in a four-star luxury hotel which advertises extra security with its in-room safe-deposit boxes, and charges accordingly. After all, guests staying in a hotel of this category, expect a safe, secure and trustworthy environment.

In view of these facts, the hotel should have acted immediately, should have reimbursed us the stolen money without delay, and should have made us feel home away from home, which the hotel management failed to do.

If you are planning to stay at the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel, think again. You might want to reconsider your stay at this hotel until management takes its duties seriously, and accepts responsibility for the welfare of its guests, their personal safety, and the protection of their belongings.

We suggest that the SOL MELIA hotel chain conducts a total safety/security and property protection quality control of the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel to protect its guests, and thus regain the necessary trust to attract clients.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
