Ford to submit report on ski village project in India
Monday, August 29, 2005
The Ford Company would submit a detailed project report in six months on its plan to develop a Himalayan ski village at the cost of USD 300 million near Manali, state Tourism Minister G S Bali said.

The company would submit a detailed project report in six months and finer details would be worked out after studying the same, he said.

The project would transform the economy of Kullu valley and project Manali as world class tourist destination, Bali said adding all local and environmental concerns would be addressed adequately.

Bali said the state government had finalised the Jakoo ropeway project in Shimla.

The contract to build the ropeway has been awarded to a subsidiary of Jagson Airways, he said. (PTI)

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
