Frankfurt Airport is Europe’s “Punctuality Champion”
Friday, October 28, 2005
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is increasingly growing into “Europe’s punctuality champion,” reports Fraport AG, the airport’s owner and manager. The average delay rate per flight at European airports rose from 1.2 to 1.4 minutes during the 2005 summer period (from May to August) – while FRA was the only airport actually improving its on-time performance. This was revealed by statistics from Eurocontrol, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation of all international flights in the upper airspace of EU member states.

This confirm a long-standing trend in the punctuality competition among European airports. According to studies by the Association of European Airlines, Frankfurt Airport heads the punctuality table. In terms of on-time performance, FRA ranks clearly ahead of its European competitors.

Fraport`s executive board chairman Dr. Wilhelm Bender said: “Frankfurt Airport is renowned for its efficiency. We have achieved this mainly by optimizing processes on the ground, as well as by having good cooperation with air traffic control services.

Maintaining and enhancing FRA’s leading position will further benefit our customers. We wish to meet their needs by offering top service.” Bender stressed that the company would continue its efforts in this area “to enhance performance even more.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
