More flights to Hong Kong and Osaka for Finnair
Friday, March 24, 2006
Due to high demand, Finnair will add a sixth weekly flight to Osaka between July and October. The airline, moreover, will fly five times a week to Hong Kong between July and October, an earlier than planned increase from the present four flights a week.

At the beginning of March, Finnair announced that it will add a direct route for the summer to Hong Kong in addition to its existing flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou. The company will start operating the Hong Kong route in May with three flights a week. The direct flight will cut the travel time to Hong Kong by more than four hours.

From July, Finnair will fly from Helsinki to Osaka on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with the return flights from Osaka to Helsinki taking place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The flying days from Helsinki to Hong Kong from July will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the return flights being on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The routes will be flown with Boeing MD-11 aircraft.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
