Hertz receives MENA award for third year in a row
Wednesday, May 10, 2006
Hertz UAE has scooped a top award for the third year in a row at the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Travel Awards held in Dubai last week. The company, which is part of the Al-Futtaim group, was named as the Best Car Rental Company - International Brand following two months of online voting by customers and travel trade professionals.

A total of 54 awards were given out in 18 different categories, including categories for five and four-star hotels, spas, airlines, duty-free shops and golf courses.

Bob Farrow, Hertz UAE general manager, was presented with the top Platinum award at the glittering ceremony which took place in the Al Bustan Rotana Ballroom. Winning this award for a third time is a great honour for all our team members as it reflects their hard work and commitment to making sure that Hertz is the number one choice for both business and leisure travellers in the region, he said.

Hertz UAE is the fastest growing car rental and leasing company in the market and in 2005 recorded a staggering 45 per cent revenue growth compared with the previous year, while its fleet increased by 30 per cent. It operates from 13 locations across the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
