Design Hotels to host first networking event in Singapore
Tuesday, October 24, 2006
As part of its growing focus on the Asian market, the international hotel group design hotels will be hosting its annual Asian Exchange event in Hong Kong and, for the first time, in Singapore on 31 October and 2 November 2006.

The Exchanges are an established event product of design hotels providing a business platform for invited travel trade professionals and press to meet with selected hotel members from across the globe. More than 40 Exchanges are planned annually throughout the world and the company’s first Asian Exchange was held in Hong Kong last year. With Singapore as a new destination and additional base for the company, the expanded two-part event provides the opportunity for networking with a greater audience in Asia. Earlier this year, design hotels established a satellite office in Singapore (one of three in Asia) and also welcomed the New Majestic Hotel as the first member property in Singapore.

The expanded Asian Exchange is reflective of design hotels growing presence in Asia, both in terms of members hotels as well as travel volume to and from the region. The diverse hotels represented at the two events reveal the eclectic composition of the design hotels portfolio and include member properties located throughout both Asia and Europe.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
