IAAPA and Wharton School of Pennsylvania Unis launch institute
Thursday, October 26, 2006
The attractions industry is changing quickly. The Institute at Wharton, the result of a new partnership between International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and the Wharton School (Wharton) of the University of Pennsylvania is a proof of it.

The Institute will be held at Wharton in Philadelphia, PA, February 4-7, 2007. At this invitation-only event, the top leaders in the amusement and attractions industry will gather to learn business and management principles that are vital in today’s industry.

Charlie Bray, IAAPA president and CEO, said, “The Institute takes education for the amusement parks and attractions industry to the next level. Through our partnership with Wharton we are providing vital insight into critical issues like strategic talent management, marketing strategy and technological innovation management.”

Peter J. Degnan, executive director of the Aresty Institute of Executive Education at Wharton echoes this sentiment. “We are committed to providing this elite group of industry leaders with a powerful learning experience that will transcend the classroom and have positive repercussions at their respective facilities long after they leave.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
