Aviareps to represent South African Airways in Italy and Benelux
Friday, January 11, 2008
Aviareps is now representing South African Airways (SAA) in Italy and the Benelux countries as the company announced. The international service provider for airlines and tourism companies will act as General Sales Agent (GSA) in these markets. The Aviareps offices in Milan and Amsterdam are taking on responsibility for SAA ticket sales and bookings in Italy and Benelux with immediate effect.

For European passengers, South African Airways operates a total of 39 flights per week from Frankfurt, Munich and London Heathrow to Johannesburg or Cape Town. Thanks to cooperation with Lufthansa and other partner airlines, intra-European routes to Germany and the UK are carefully coordinated with intercontinental flights to South Africa.

“By signing this new contract with Aviareps we aim to continue offering a first-class service to our customers and business partners in Italy and Benelux,” explains Michael Bentele, Head of Europe at South African Airways.

Oliver Kuechler, Head of Aviation at Aviareps, adds: “We are very proud to represent one of the world’s most renowned airlines. Aviareps already serves as GSA for South African Airways in France, Russia and Ukraine. We are now in a position to demonstrate our international expertise to the airline on a daily basis.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
