OAG and FCM form strategic alliance
Thursday, February 07, 2008
OAG (Official Airline Guide), the global flight information and data solutions company, and FCM Travel Solutions, a specialist in worldwide corporate travel and expense management, announced they have formed a strategic alliance to deliver a ground-breaking one-stop travel planning and booking solution to revolutionize the way people arrange and manage business travel.

OAG Travel Planner Pro is a brand new online business travel planning application which enables business travellers and professional travel arrangers to plan, book and manage multiple trip plans for multiple travellers, and to create highly complex itineraries in a very easy to use, intuitive and intelligent online environment. The product is scheduled for launch in early April.

David Rosen, managing director OAG Travel Solutions, said “We are very excited about this partnership, which will take OAG into the transaction and fulfilment arena for the first time. Our subscribers have been asking us to do this as part of our focus on travel planning. OAG Travel Planner Pro is the first and only source of complete and unbiased information for planning and managing trips, using the same OAG database that keeps the global travel industry moving.”

Rosen continued, “For many years our customers have relied on OAG’s electronic products for the most comprehensive and independent information to build even the most complex itinerary, but until now they have had to go elsewhere to make bookings. Now, with OAG Travel Planner Pro, they will have everything in one place in a really easy to use and intuitive online application. We are confident they won’t need, or want, to go anywhere else to arrange business travel. Travel management companies, an important client group for us, may wish to ‘white label’ it for their own clients.”

Larry Bonistalli, chief operating officer for FCm Bannockburn Travel Solutions, said “Our philosophy at FCm is to ensure that our people are aligned with the mindset and strategic direction of our clients and partners, and we recognise OAG as a market-leading brand with a substantial and loyal customer base. OAG is renowned as the industry standard for providing the best travel planning information, and we are delighted to be its partner of choice for delivering a fast and reliable booking and fulfilment service to its individual and corporate customers around the world.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
