SAS Scandinavian Airlines and Aviareps to enter into cooperation in the Ukraine
Monday, February 18, 2008
SAS Scandinavian Airlines has appointed Aviareps as General Sales Agent (GSA) for the Ukraine. As of 30 March 2008, SAS will re-open scheduled flights between Kiev and Copenhagen, with connection to the Nordic region. The route will initially be operated three times a week with an MD and/or Airbus aircraft. SAS Scandinavian Airlines now extends the client portfolio of Aviareps Ukraine to ten customer airlines. Aviareps Country Manager Natalia Ilyashova will head the sales set-up on the Ukrainian market on behalf of SAS.

“There has been a significant increase in interest in the destination of Kiev on the part of Scandinavians, both amongst businessmen and leisure travellers, which has encouraged us to re-open Kiev and we very much look forward to joint business efforts in partnership with AVIAREPS to make this route successful,” says Marek Pedersen, SAS General Manager Russia & CIS. “We are also very proud to offer convenient connections to/from the Nordic Region destinations through our Copenhagen gateway.”

Oliver Kuechler, Chief Operating Officer Aviation of Aviareps, adds: “We are extremely delighted to represent SAS Scandinavian Airlines with considerable sales and marketing activities. Due to its strong international network and long lasting experience, Aviareps will now contribute to strengthening the position of the well-respected Star Alliance member on the Ukrainian market.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
