
Traffic at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) continued to develop dynamically in February 2008. Due to the leap-year effect, the number of passengers rose by 8.2 percent year-on-year to 3.85 million. Even after adjusting for the additional operating day (February 29), FRA still achieved about a four percent jump in passenger traffic versus February 2007. In the first two months of the current business year, 5.8 percent more passengers used Germany’s largest air transportation hub than in the comparable period in 2007.
The Fraport Group’s majority-owned airports (Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Hahn, Antalya, Lima, Burgas and Varna) served a total of almost 5.1 million passengers in February 2008 – 8.5 percent more than in the same month last year. Peru’s Lima Airport (LIM) registered nearly 650,000 passengers (up 20.7 percent). Fraport’s terminals at Antalya Airport (AYT) in Turkey welcomed approximately 318,000 passengers, a 6.4 percent year-on-year rise. Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN) reported a 9.7 percent drop in traffic to 237,000 passengers. With well over 15,000 passengers, Bulgaria’s Varna Airport (VAR) achieved growth of 23.3 percent; Burgas Airport (BOJ), the second Black Sea gateway, saw traffic grow by 36.9 percent to 791 passengers.
