Hertz is granted superbrand status
Friday, March 21, 2008

Hertz has been confirmed as a top 10 business brand in the UK in a Top 500 Superbrands report launched by Superbrands, a branding research firm. The other brands in the top 10 are Google, Microsoft, BP, BBC, GlaxoSmithKline, Rolls-Royce group, Financial Times, BA and Fedex.

According to Superbrands, which styles itself as the UK’s most accurate online research agency, companies named as “Business Superbrands” have established the finest reputation in the market and demonstrate quality products and services. In addition, they are a trusted, distinctive brand with consistent delivery, personality and values. Hertz is the only car rental company to feature in both the top 10 and top 30 listings.

Mark Tristram-Walmsley, Commercial Director, Hertz UK, comments: “As we celebrate our 90th year in the business we are very proud to be ranked so highly in the Superbrands listing, which is testament to our ongoing commitment to offer the best possible service, innovations and product variety for our customers”.

Hertz celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. From the time when Walter L Jacobs opened a car rental operation in Chicago in September 1918 with a dozen Model T Fords, Hertz has grown to become the a global car rental company, operating from 8,000 locations in over 150 countries.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
