Montenegro first tourism destination to sign with TourismROI
Monday, April 21, 2008

TourismROI LLC, the world’s premier source for Travel & Tourism management and investment information, announced that Montenegro’s Ministry of Tourism and Environment signed as the first Destination Subscriber on TourismROI’s new online portal.

In 2007, for the fourth consecutive year, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) ranked Montenegro, located in southeastern Europe on the Adriatic coast, as one of the world’s top three destinations in terms of forecast Travel & Tourism growth over the ensuing decade.  And preliminary estimates put Montenegro in second position in the growth ranking for 2008, behind Macau – the Special Administrative Region of China and ahead of India.

Commenting on his country’s participation, Predrag Nenezic, Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism and Environment, said: “TourismROI is positioned to become one of the most comprehensive Travel & Tourism investment resources.  It will connect governments from around the world with the global investment community online with the newest, complete and updated information at any given point in time.  Montenegro, as a growing Travel & Tourism economy with significant investment and development opportunities, is proud to have played a small part in the genesis of TourismROI.  We look forward to making full use of this powerful B2B (business-to-business) resource in the years ahead.”

Richard Miller, CEO & Managing Partner of TourismROI said “Over the past five-years, Montenegro, lead by the visionary Minister Nenezic, has used Travel & Tourism as an engine of economic restoration and development helping to overcome and exceed the enormous challenges the country faced following the Balkan Wars of the early 90’s.  Minister Nenezic has led a tireless campaign to attract new tourism industry players and investment to Montenegro, one of the few remaining undiscovered destinations in the Mediterranean.”

Mr. Miller continued, “When Minister Nenezic realized the opportunity for TourismROI to assist him in his efforts to communicate Montenegro’s tourism plans, programs, campaigns, research, incentives and opportunities to a global audience, his reaction was immediate and decisive - his only question to me was how soon will you be open for business?”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
