Sabre appoints new regional marketing manager for Middle East and Africa
Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Sabre Airline Solutions has announced the appointment of Mouna J. Moussi to Regional Marketing Manager for the Middle East and Africa regions. In her new role, the Lebanese-Venezuelan will be responsible for growing Sabre Airline Solutions across both regions through the development and execution of effective marketing solutions that optimise the synergies between Sabre Airline Solutions and Sabre Travel Network in these regions.  She will act as the main conduit between customers and the Airline Solutions team, and drive the company’s business and sales strategies within the region.

With more than 11 years experience in the travel industry, Ms Moussi was previously an Executive Director at the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) where she played an integral role in airline communications activities including organising high-level events, representing the industry in international forums, and establishing and managing the AACO Industry Partners’ programme. Ms Moussi also led negotiations with authorities including the Dialogue with European Commission over future bilateral agreements, and managed numerous implementations such as the AACO joint project ARABESK – a Regional Network Cooperation of eight carries implementing Sabre.

"We are thrilled that Ms Moussi has joined our team," said Dr. Nejib Ben-Khedher, Senior Vice President at Sabre Airline Solutions. "Not only does she bring extensive airline industry experience, she is also recognised as a leader in her field in the travel industry and brings strong relationships with leading airline players in Middle East and Africa.

"Ms Moussi’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to this region and is testament to the success of the strategic investments we have been making to enhance and expand our local and regional capabilities," he said.

"I am confident Ms Moussi will build on Sabre’s growth in the region, which recently includes a large-scale implementation project for Saudi Arabian Airlines as part of their three year IT Master Plan. We are very fortunate to have someone with Ms Moussi’s industry insights, experience and relationships," said Dr. Ben-Khedher.

Ms.Moussi joined Sabre Airline Solutions following a decade-long career in the regional aviation industry.

Ms. Moussi was on the board of several advisory groups serving the airline industry regionally and internationally. She is a member in the International Aviation Women Association IAWA, The Hellenic Aviation Society, and the Aeronautical Aviation Society.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
