KD avia starting with Aviareps in Austria
Wednesday, May 21, 2008

With immediate effect, KD avia will be starting and landing in cooperation with Aviareps in Austria. Due to an agreement with the Russian airline, the international representation company for airlines and other tourism entities will take care of all sales, marketing and ticketing activities. Christine Altmann (Sales Executive), together with Sonja Buocz-Lamatsch (General Manager) at Aviareps’ subsidiary in Vienna, is responsible for the successful representation of KD avia in Austria.

During this year’s summer schedule the private carrier serves the following destinations in Russia and the CIS from Vienna: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Kazan, Omsk, Ufa, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Volgograd, Perm and Astana (Kazakhstan) - via Kaliningrad three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday). Acting as a bridge between Europe and Russia. Owning passenger and cargo facilities in Kaliningrad airport, KD avia has been building a new modern passenger terminal specifically designed for transit of passengers and cargo. For the continental connection planes of the type Boeing B737-300 are used. KD avia is a member of BSP Austria.

In 2002 KD avia arose from the national Russian airline "Kaliningrad Avia". Today KD avia is almost fully private with only a small share belonging to regional government, but construction of an air transport hub is supported by regional government and state government as well.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
