CHI Hotels & Resorts declared 'Leading Provider of Travel Deals in Europe' by Travelzoo
Wednesday, August 06, 2008
Malta-based hotel operator CHI Hotels & Resorts (formerly Corinthia Hotels International) has won the coveted title of ‘Leading Provider of Travel Deals, Europe’ at the Travelzoo Awards 2008 gala ceremony held recently in Chicago.

In determining this year’s winners, the travel internet site asked their experts to evaluate over 67,000 deals featured in 2007. Using the criteria of Reliability, Appeal, Competitiveness, Consistency and Quality in 20 different categories, their 40 deal experts selected winners among Airlines, hotels, vacation companies, cruise agencies, cruise lines, shows and events, car rentals and destinations. Each Travelzoo Award is quite prestigious, since their experts consult with more than 900 travel companies around the world to uncover the best deals.

Tony Potter, chief executive officer and managing director of CHI Hotels & Resorts accepted the Leading Provider of Travel Deals in Europe award and commented “We are obviously delighted at being presented with this award. Wining was no mean feat, especially considering that our management company now operates a multi-brand portfolio of hotels that includes the luxury Corinthia Hotels brand worldwide and the upscale Wyndham and Ramada Plaza brands in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The marketing efforts of this diverse portfolio is largely driven by a small but talented nucleus of people at our Malta headquarters. It is their effort and that of their peers in the various hotels that have gained us this unique accolade. My congratulations go to them and my thanks to Travelzoo for recognising their achievements in this manner.”

"Every day the travel industry inspires millions of people to escape their daily lives and explore new places," said C.J. Kettler, president North America,Travelzoo.  "It is such an honour for us to recognise the companies that are the best at not only inspiring travellers, but creating deals that make travel accessible, affordable and easy to book.  All 20 of our winners honoured tonight are clearly leaders in this industry."

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
