Vueling carried 692,780 passengers in August, with an 85% average load factor
Monday, September 08, 2008
Vueling, the new-generation airline, carried a total of 692,780 passengers during the month of August. In keeping with the strategy of cancelling non-profitable routes and adjusting fleet size accordingly, the airline operated an average of 19.5 aircraft during the month of August, 1.5 fewer than during the same period in 2007.

Revenue per flight optimization remains Vueling’s main objective. In that regard, August load-factor decrease has been largely offset with higher revenue per passenger levels, thus generating higher levels of revenue per flight.

The airline had an average seat load-factor of 85%, a 5.3-point decrease from August last year.

Vueling’s fleet reduction plan will keep on being rolled out during the coming autumn and winter seasons, and the company will operate a fleet of 16 aircraft at year-end.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
