Hertz opens doors at Russia location for 2014 Olympic Winter Games
Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Hertz international franchisee in Russia, ZAO Travel Rent, has launched operations in Sochi (Adler), the nation’s major port on the Black Sea and the largest resort destination in Russia. Due to undergo a multi-million dollar investment, Sochi has also been appointed the capital of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, opening the door to a dynamic and exciting future for Sochi and the entire region

In Sochi, Hertz will operate three locations - at the airport, railway station and in the centre - which will be open for the region’s visitors and international business travellers. A full selection of vehicles, including four-wheel drives, is available at these locations, as well as chauffeur services and long-term rentals.

Michel Taride, President, Hertz Europe and Executive Vice President, Hertz Corporation, commented: “We are delighted that the Hertz brand will be the first international car rental operator starting business in Sochi and are strongly committed to the region’s development. Hertz has become the first car rental company to develop an extensive Russian network, and thanks to its constant innovation and response to customer needs, has been voted the best car rental company in Russia by the readers of TTG Russia every year since 2001.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
