AVIAREPS appointed by Baboo as their GSA
Representation of Swiss airline in Austria contracted
Tuesday, October 14, 2008
AVIAREPS has been appointed by Baboo as their General Sales Agent (GSA). The Swiss carrier is contracting the international airline and tourism representative to handle all sales and marketing activities in Austria. With immediate effect, General Manager Sonja Buocz-Lamatsch together with Sales Manager Gottfried Goeltl at AVIAREPS Austria are responsible for the new customer account and for strengthening Baboo’s presence on the Austrian market.

Currently, the Swiss carrier operates one daily flight from Vienna to Geneva in the morning, except on Saturdays and Sundays. On 5 October 2008, Baboo implemented an additional daily flight in the evening. By the end of October, the route between Austria and Switzerland will be serviced twice daily on six days a week with an Embraer E90 air plane.

The airline Baboo, established in 2003, is headquartered in Switzerland’s second-biggest city, Geneva. It predominantly operates routes to 18 domestic destinations and European cities (excluding charter destinations), during the summer season also to a couple of additional holiday destinations such as Ibiza. The further development of the Vienna-Geneva connection will particularly be convenient for business travellers: the additional evening flights enable them to attend appointments and meetings without an overnight stay.

“There is demand for further flights between Vienna and Geneva, in any case. We wish to prepare Austria for the extension of our route from Vienna to Geneva, and need a local partner. Due to its prominent local specification, AVIAREPS is predestined to assist us in this matter,” states Jacques Bankir, Baboo’s CEO.

Oliver Kuechler, COO Aviation of AVIAREPS, points out: “We proudly include Baboo in our client portfolio. AVIAREPS already represents several renowned customers on the Austrian market. Now we are pleased to deploy our market knowledge for the benefit of our new valued client named Baboo.”

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
