Hilton Colombo celebrates 21st anniversary with creations from its culinary experts
Monday, October 20, 2008
This year Hilton Colombo is celebrating 21 years of being a premier hospitality icon in Colombo and adding to its list of reasons to celebrate are the hotel’s two top chefs. Executive Chef Rohan Fernandopulle and Executive Pastry Chef Gerard Mendis, both award-winners in their respective expertise, have been with the hotel since day one and have helped evolve the city’s culinary scene with a contemporary blend of international and Asian-inspired cuisine for both foreign and local guests.

“We are very fortunate to have two great chefs working in our kitchens. Being able to indulge in a top-class gastronomic meal and topping it off with heavenly desserts is every gourmand’s idea of a perfect meal.”

“Executive Chef Fernandopulle and Executive Pastry Chef Mendis have perfected the art of incorporating local culture with international preferences in the city’s culinary scene through the years, giving our hotel guests and locals a chance to experience first-class gourmet meals fused with the authentic flavours of local ingredients” said General Manager William Costley.

Furthermore, both chefs have led and been actively involved in a multitude of culinary training programmes conducted across Hilton properties in Asia Pacific.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
