Addition of more than 3000 city hotels in 250 destinations to its site
Youtravel.com launches city hotels
Friday, November 14, 2008
Online accommodation specialist youtravel.com has branched out into the city breaks market and has added more than 3000 city hotels in 250 destinations to its site. Covering destinations in Europe, North America, Middle East, South Africa and Asia, youtravel.com’s city hotel offering includes favourites such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Prague and Rome as well as more unusual long haul choices such as Bangkok, Cape Town, Hong Kong, New York and Shanghai. Sales and marketing director Paul Riches said: “Previously youtravel.com has offered a handful of hotels in Spanish and Italian cities. However due to the increasing demand from our trade partners we have launched a full and broad cities portfolio which has now doubled the total number of hotels available on our site.

“Youtravel.com is about to enter its third year of trading and this move to expand our product range to include cities illustrates the buoyancy of our business and indeed the confidence and loyalty we have seen from our agent partners so far.”

The new city hotels may be accessed through a tab on the home page. The new cities programme offers properties from two to five-star and all have with instant online confirmation. Riches commented: “We have also negotiated short release periods so that we’re able to offer our trade partners last-minute sales opportunities. Being an independently-owned company means that we are able to be far more agile and flexible than our competitors. “Along with the most competitive rates in the industry we also offer 24/7 support for both agents and customers, and naturally our site includes detailed hotel descriptions, photos and Google maps as our resort property profiles do.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
