Expedia and Hotels.com sign agreement with Wyndham
Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Expedia, Inc. and Hotels.com have signed an agreement with Wyndham International, Inc. to provide Expedia.com and Hotels.com customers with access to inventory at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Summerfield Suites properties.

As part of the agreement, 130 properties from Wyndham`s North American brand portfolio are available to travelers via the vacation package and hotel offerings on Expedia® and Hotels.com. The agreement provides Wyndham with a marketing channel to efficiently reach the nearly 30 million customers shopping for travel each month on the two sites.

We are excited about this agreement, which enables Expedia and Hotels.com customers to continue shopping for the many upscale and luxury properties in the Wyndham network, said Lloyd Frink, senior vice president of supplier relations at Expedia and Hotels.com. We look forward to working with Wyndham to expand its reach among our large customer base.

This announcement builds on Wyndham`s relationship with Expedia`s WWTE(TM) private-label service. Since 2002, WyndhamVacations.com has offered vacation packages to customers via WWTE technology and inventory.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
