Friday, September 03, 2004
Finnair launched a new Airbus A319 aircraft on its domestic and European routes. The aircraft is the 29th addition to the Finnair Airbus fleet and is the last A320 series aircraft acquired. Finnair has three different types of Airbus A320s in service.
Different sizes of Airbus can be used flexibly depending on the booking situation of the flight. Our customers also greatly appreciate the travel comfort of the Airbus, says Finnair COO and EVP Scheduled Passenger Traffic Henrik Arle.
Finnair has been renewing its fleet systematically for the past five years during which time over half the fleet has been changed. Airbuses have replaced the DC-9s, which were completely phased out last year, and Boeing MD-80s, some of which are still in use.
The next aircraft acquisition programme begins in September 2005 when Finnair receives the first of twelve 76 seat Embraer E170 jet aircraft. The Finnair fleet consists of a total of 67 aircraft.
