Tourism Vancouver and Travel Spike launch themed hotel packages
Friday, April 29, 2005
Tourism Vancouver has partnered with Travel Spike to offer exciting and innovative themed hotel packages and hotel rooms that can be booked online at tourismvancouver.com.

Tourism Vancouver has made it much easier for consumers to save money on hotels and hotel packages, said Travel Spike President Ryan Bifulco. Travelers can select from themes such as Spa, Sports, Arts, and Family, while hotels can sell more rooms by bundling local attractions and unique events with their hotel rates.

Consumers can also customize their hotel package by adding optional amenities such as parking, airport transfers, pet fees and rollaway beds. Local hotels are able to set and change their pricing and packages in real time by accessing Travel Spike`s secure extranet.

By having Travel Spike as part of tourismvancouver.com, we`re realizing some of our long term goals to make the site more robust, and a better resource for visitors, said Stephen Pearce, Tourism Vancouver`s Vice President of Leisure Travel and Destination Management.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
