Nominations for the Adventure Travel Conservation Funds’ Annual Grant Program open

Adventure Travel Conservation Fund

From May 1-30, 2024, the ATCF will accept nominations for conservation grants ranging from $10,000 to $15,000, targeting global grassroots projects in environmental and cultural conservation.

Nominations for the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund’s (ATCF) annual granting program are being accepted from May 1 – May 30, 2024, with grants between $10,000-$15,000 USD available to selected organizations.

As the not-for-profit arm of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) with a mission to harness the global travel community’s environmental and cultural conservation efforts, the
ATCF funds grassroots communities, non-profit, and for-profit organizations in biodiverse destinations around the world. Over the past 6 years, the ATCF has awarded over $585,000 USD of support to 39 conservation projects in 28 destinations. Organizations applying for funding typically include conservation groups, Indigenous people groups, tour operators, accommodations, and other non-profit and for-profit organizations. Funding is awarded based on alignment with three pillars: Biodiversity Protection, Climate Resilience, and Community Resilience.

Originally focused on nominees from developing countries, the ATCF is opening nominations to organizations across Europe and North America in 2024. “The ATCF Board has heard our global travel community’s call to expand where we fund to include grassroots projects worldwide,” says ATCF Chair Steve Barker. “I’m excited to see how additional applications from North America and Europe will enhance the diversity and innovation of projects on our ballot this year.”

To receive funding, organizations must be nominated by an ATCF member, though any organization interested may apply. If a relationship does not exist, organizations may be matched to an ATCF member following their application. Once a nomination has been accepted, nominees which fit the criteria will be contacted directly to present a more formal request. Final submissions are then shared with ATCF’s members for voting with final grant recipients announced in early October.
