The partnership between Bókun and Venice Tours has resulted in a 400% annual revenue increase and a 98% rise in bookings, showcasing the power of strategic channel management.

Leading Tour Operator Software Provider Bókun has revealed that the annual revenue of tour operator Venice Tours has increased by 400% following their partnership.

With the tourism industry being such a competitive landscape, many tour operators face increasing difficulties in differentiating themselves and maintaining year-on-year growth.

In light of this, Jordan Whittington, Business Development Manager at Bókun provides insight into the success of this partnership and how tour operators can look to channel managers to grow their revenue streams and boost ticket sales.

400% revenue increase overall, 98% year-on-year increase in bookings

“The partnership between Venice Tours and Bókun, initially formed from a desire by Venice Tours to grow their distribution network, has been a huge success as evidenced by their annual revenue growth figures. Between January 2022 and January 2023, revenue had increased by a staggering 400%, with the tour operator also noting a 98% year-on-year increase in bookings (comparing April 2022 and April 2023).”

“This scale of revenue growth was achieved by leveraging Bókun’s platform features to seamlessly integrate with a vast network of Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and tour resellers. Venice Tours successfully partnered with 36 operators, including Expedia, Hello Tickets and Klook, enhancing brand visibility while efficiently managing all bookings within their own system.”

“Having synchronised distribution networks makes managing availability simpler and prevents tours from being overbooked, ensuring a higher rate of customer satisfaction.”

The benefits of using an integrated marketplace

“Tour operators can gain massively by embracing an integrated marketplace, enjoying an increase in brand exposure across various agencies, consequently driving more ticket sales and revenue.”

“Competition remains a constant challenging factor in the tourism industry, so it is important for operators to continuously analyse the competition while also thinking of ways to innovate. This could involve exploring effective strategies such as integrating add-on services to enhance the overall customer experience or utilising multilingual capabilities to expand opportunities in additional territories.”

Bókun’s mission is to help tour and activity businesses generate more bookings with less work.
